Miracles in December (the fact that I finally can post is the miracle)

Standard

I know that I had mentioned that I wanted to do a 12 days of kpop Christmas but due to a high volume of drama and stress and then a high workload I just found no time to post.

But now that I have a little free time and with Christmas only 5 days away now, I figured I would post a Top 10 type of thing to get us into the Christmas mood (which is sorely lacking in Korea due to the fact that it’s a “couples holiday here”…strange.) These also aren’t in any particular order…just the way that I think to remember them.

But if you are like me sometimes become tired of the usual Christmas songs you’ve heard for 27+years ….then it’s really nice to listen to some of the songs I’ve listed below (as well as others I haven’t included) to get you into that Christmas spirit!

1-Jelly Christmas 2012

2- TTS- Dear Santa

3-BTOB – Winter’s Tale

4 IU You&I (It was hard to choose between this and Good Day but this just to me reminds me more of Christmas)

5 Starship 2013-Snow Candy

6 Infinite-Lately

7 Jessica -Wonderland (I’ve never been a huge fan of her voice but oddly enough I really find this song catchy and her voice fits the song well-plus this MV is so beautiful)

8 EXO – Sing For You

9-EXO Miracles in December (yeah…of course you know I would EXO two spots 🙂 I didn’t include their most recent one because I haven’t really had a chance to sit down and listen to it)

10 SHINee Winter Wonderland (their latest Japanese single)

Because I’m (about 90%) happy

Standard

1 difficult class down, 1 to go.

Maybe it’s the weather.

Maybe I’m not sick anymore.

Maybe my co teacher is slowly getting uses to the book.

Maybe the kids are finally getting more comfortable with me.

I don’t care. So far this week has been so enjoyable that I’m wanting to get up and go to work everyday.

I’m excited for the kids to learn,

This year has been one of the most trying times for me. New kids, lower levels, a co teacher who I kind of need to baby…it’s been a lot of work.

And last week showed me just how bad it can get if I let it.

This week for the most part things are better. The lessons are becoming a little more enjoyable for the kids.

Today was a test to make sure Monday and Tuesday weren’t flukes.

And while it wasn’t as good as it should have been (more on that later) it was a far cry better from what it has been.

So my 5-3 class is rowdy, loud and they don’t like to have to pay attention. Sadly this was true today-kids were talking, fighting, paying with their pencils etc.

And my co teacher couldn’t really stop it. Luckily a few students really took it upon themselves to try to keep students quiet.

Even though I said I was going to leave everything up to my co teacher, I had to on a few occasions stop the class and ask them to be quiet because it was so out of control. I like to nip situations in the butt while she lets it go on until it becomes out of control.

Another issue and what I’m really worried about is the fact the kids couldn’t even answer questions from this chapter or last chapter. I think it still attributes to the fact she doesn’t make them talk or repeat after her to get used to talking. She’s getting a little better but it’s not good that kids can’t respond when she asks “how are you?” (even a “fine” or “okay” i accept at this point because at least they are answering).

Now on to the good side. The kids seemed mostly interested in today’s lesson. I have built in a few games and activities to keep their attention. Even my special student Han Gyul was extremely talkitive today, and repeated after me in English. I still am shocked that he likes English. I would guess that maybe he feels he’s closer on the other students levels because it’s something they’ve really only been learning for 2 years and some kids really struggle with it because teachers just pass them on.

But I don’ think he has that capability. But it doesn’t matter because he seems to enjoy the attention I give him.

As usual Do Eun, his seat partner is so attentive and kind to him. She is already noe of my favorite students-I do my best not to favor her. Also another semi trouble maker (his English is much higher so he becomes bored in class and then disruptive to other students) really engages with Han Gyul. I love seeing that the other tudents really make efforts.

I’ve never really seem any kind of systematic bullying yet because I think the homeroom teachers at this school are extremely attentive about stuff like that.

I know that’s not to be the case everywhere as W messaged me telling of her own 4th graders writing notes about lower level students and cussing. The class had always had a bullying problem even last year. I’m glad to say I’ve yet to see that.

I’ve had cases but they were individual situations. And the kids here know I don’t tolerate laughing and am very patient with lower level students.

So let’s just hope tomorrow’s class will behave or at least try to. Then home free for Friday’s class!

I also saw some of my older students from last year. While a lot of the boys are shooting up and becoming giants, sadly my little Dion is still the tiny small cute self that he was all of last year. I miss him so much.

But now onto Wednesday ….MUSIC WEDNESDAY!

So I’m actually having this broken down into two sections. I wanted to review the BTOB and Block B comebacks ….but then VIXX dropped this ….art teaser and I cannot NOT talk about that. So first we will look over BTOB/Block B.

It’s spring time and for kpop that means two things: cherry blossom and couple songs. March saw the return of couple songs with Eric Nam/Wendy, Yoona/10cm, Jimin/Minseok. They were all really good! And sweet.

Between BTOB and Block B there are enough Cherry blossoms to rival Japan. It wasn’t enough they were released on the same day, same time, with cherry blossoms in the mid tempo feel. But that’s pretty much where the similarities end.

BTOB:

I guess they did a 3 part ballad series ….that no one knew about? Or at least that’s what I’ve been hearing. I liked “It’s Okay” , but I wasn’t really into “Way back home” (I felt the song got lost in the MV). So when I heard this was also a slwoer song I wasn’t too happy.

But unlike the previous two, it’s less of a straight up ballad. It sounds happier, feels lighter and fits the season right now. As a whole, the album to me is much more enjoyable and seems to go well together. It’s only a mini but I love it so much more than the past two that have come out.

The MV…is okay? If your a Minhyuk fan you have to be happy…or maybe not. But I felt that the others got really shifted. I’m hoping they put out a live version where we can see the members singing as well. The aesthetics are nice, especially Peniel’s but I feel the others stories really got lost in editing. We really only get a comprehensive understanding of Minhyuk….so why is Hyunsik submerging himself in a bathtub…it felt a little mismatched…we only see the rest of BTOB at the beginning and the end of the MV.

But the song more than makes up for it. I’m really happy.

BLOCK B:

Over a year! It’s been so long since their last comeback.

Their last comeback was “Her”. It was very different than their previous sound. They had mentioned that they didn’t want to become trapped in a certain sound which is understandable.

But then they put out this kind of mid tempo slow jam that seems to be a really popular thing right now. So for me…it didn’t feel like anything special.

There are parts that I really like-Zico’s rap, P.O.’s (drunken bar angst?) part, and Taeil at the end. But overall it kind of fell short of what I was wanting. I kind of wish PO’s part was in more of the song…

Between BTOB, GOT7, Red Velvet, all the spring couple songs…I really didn’t want another kind of mid tempo song.

Something else that bothered me a little here, though it wasn’t as much of an issue as GOT7’s was, but the chorus kind of feels lost. And though there is like a slight build up …ultimately is just kind of ends.

I like it for a pre release, or if I knew there was a second title track (considering how long they’ve been on a break they should put out a second one) but like “Got to go to work” for Beast…I just don’t think it feels like a title track.

I know a lot of people who don’t really like Block B like the song, like W, but i’m starting to feel these songs are all having the same kind of feel. (another would be like Dean X Gaeko’s half moon).

I’m ready for something else….and that’s why we are switching to VIXX.

THANK GOD for VIXX! A few years ago I had my “one year VIXXiversary”.

How different things would be if I never went to that concert.

Vixx did the kind of smooth feel with Chained Up. And while I loved it, I am ready for VIXX to be something different. And thank god VIXX is VIXX.

While everyone is obsessing over the art work and meaning I’m focused on the sound. It sounds huge…like movie soundtrack huge.

I don’t know if this is will be the intro, but in a slight way it reminds me of Error’s intro (and BAD for inifinite) where it is a slight variation of the song-I hope to God that it is. It sounds awesome-the strings with the synth sound middle break down…I’ve been waiting for this.

Now that the art concept has many theories..and I really don’t care what they are-it’s VIXX …enough said.

While I am a lone fan who loves their lighter concepts, I appreciate the dark VIXX feels. It definetely has that VIXX feel that Chained up didn’t quite have.

I know a lot of people started to like VIXX because of Chained UP while a lot of starlights didn’t care for the song….I’m torn on it. I both liked it because it was awesome and different but I understand the feeling  of wanting the old VIXX sound.

It makes sense for groups to grow and change the sound, but sometimes you want that old sound back-which for VIXX most people associate them with darker concepts.

I also heard that this is going to be a year long comeback. While that sounds horrible (MADE bigbang anyone?) I’m thinking it might be like Hyde and Jekyll comeback where it was repackaged-they were different themes but they were compliments to each other. So that would be okay-and  I love the dark to fun contrast.

Whatever VIXX puts out I’ll be happy. And then I’ll have a small time to recover before EXO’s summer comeback….

Overall I felt satisfied and pleased with BTOB (though I want something else than ballads…let’s get some Thriller or You’re so Fly BTOB), disappointed with Block B’s comeback (the smooth feel is starting to make songs sound the same and annoys me that the structure makes the song feel compromised) and can’t wait for VIXX.

Luckily I really only have a few groups I’m focusing on now. VIXX comes first with EXO being second now (Block b’s long hiatus and dissappointing comeback, Beast inactivity and whatever the F Cube is doing, BTOB year long Ballad comebacks, Bigband’s dissappointing and annoying MADE series) and Mamamoo.

Some rookie groups like Astro feel fresh, and while I don’t like them I think 17 has a lot of potential ( I should look up some of their stuff considering I’m now part of the fan club).

Groups like GOT7 and BTS are becoming really popular but personally I just don’t like their music.

Older groups like 2pm, Beast, 2ne1, wonder girls-their inactivity is really becoming an issue for keeping popularity. I know 2pm and Beast have been dealing with their Japan side, but both haven’t really had much promotion during their 1 comeback a piece last year. YG…..don’t get me started. CL’s been making her solo debut for like a year…while 2ne1 sits idle. Other groups are coming -TWICE, G FRIEND etc…not to mention the train wreck that was Ikon and subsequently Winner…overall I’ve been so disappointed in YG that it makes me forget how big of a Big Bang fan I was…

So the next few months all the way until October will be interesting. The comeback season is about to start up and with groups coming out with 2/3 comebacks a year now at the least..it’s going to be a full summer.

So that’s it for music wednesday…it kind of turned into something more than I intended it but I needed to get my YG frustration and smooth mid tempo spring song boredom out.

  • A lot of comebacks coming out in end of March all the way through insane April.
  • BTOB, Block B, Boys Republic, N Sonic, Day 6-all are out now…two debuted on the same day….the other three debuted on the same day…insanity…START

On the ninth day before christmas

Standard

My students gave to me…a  relatively easy day.

Last week was the final class for bith 5-1 and 5-9 so we covered it.

Today was word search, coupon candy book and movie (and game for 5-1) who didn’t get to play.

I get a riot watching my students play the Jurassic Park Bomb game.  Not only do I love the dinosaurs but I don’t always rememebr what is going to happen next so their reaction and mine are usually the same.

I don’t like to use too many computer games for my students because they spend all day looking at a TV, and their phone screen, so I want them to be able to move around which is why they and I both love the stick game.

But once in a while, these bomb games are fun.  If you are looking for materials, you can check out waygook which has a ton of course and you’ve probably already visited it.

However if you are like me and you don’t want to go online to do it, I might be able to attach it to this post. Don’t hold your breath over it though.

5-9 surprisingly was good today.  Maybe it was that they didn’t have to do work, or it was candy day, but the students were nice, asking me how my cold was and questions about KPOP. It was the class that I remember in the beginnnig of the year, and I really wondered where they went.

Because there isn’t a review of my classes today, I shall review my office work space and co teachers.

To begin, the co teacher that manages me, and I have come a long way.  At the beginning of the year I felt that I could do no right, and I was constantly being scolded.  Also she was quiet and cold and a little hard on the students.

Now looking back, yes she is harder than I think I would be on them, but for some of them, this might be the first look at discipline they’ve ever had.  And going into sixth grade next year, and then middle school the following, they need at least some form of learning how to behave as an older kid in the classroom.

Also I think because I am not a very outgoing person unless I have to be or I get really excited about something or I’ve known you for as long as dinosaurs ruled the earth, it wasn’t a comfortable situation.  Usually you have one person in a relationship who is the talkitive and loud one, but neither of us were which made for a slightly awkward situation.  While to this day I still feel a little awkward at times, the moments are less and I feel more comfortable talking about things I need to discuss.

Now onto my male co.  Who I miss everyday terribly.  Who I saw this morning and got way to excited about it. Good news: he won’t be leaving until March. Bad news….he’s leaving in March.

At first I was kind of nervous about having a male co teacher , and then when I learned we were both first time teachers I thought this would be a nightmare.  Turns out for most of our classes we were able to work through some intersesting times together: 5-5 descending into madness, 5-2 insane English skills, 5-1’s phoenix journey….it’s been a great learning experience. We has such a great flow and the kids picked up on it.  I’m still really sad about him leaving but I’m trying to do my best to accept the fast pace change that Korea seems to do so well.

Last is my new co teacher.  I feel like with her, she is more of a friend or in Korean I would call her 언니. I felt bad because I got a little frustrated at times because she didn’t understand but then I had to take a step back and think about it.  She was coming into a situation at the end, having to take over elementary school students when she had only ever taught secondary school.  She had to learn how to deal with students crying and saying things like “I hate you ” and the incessent talking.

But she has been so kind to me and she makes me want to do a better job so it won’t be as hard on her.

I am going to miss her so so much when she leaves but hopefully we will keep in touch as she lives in Songtan, a few towns over.

Now onto the Christmas part.  Today’s song will be…..drum roll please…

I am doing my best to space out KPOP and religious songs.  I don’t want to do the same old boring songs that you will hear on the radio, and because in the USA they tend to play the same 100 songs over and over again..so here is some variety…for you.

Today is CUBE christmas feat. BEAST BTOB 4MINTUE, G.NA and a few others that I don’t remember. It’s actually a really cute song and has a pretty good feel for a Christmas song.

I hope you enjoy.

Thriller (…but not the one you are thinking about)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Not yet but almost.  Since Halloween in Korea is almost like a novelty (in the sense they know about it and have some events but don’t actually celebrate it) and I love KPOP I’ve decided to do a one a day Kpop Halloween music video post.

I’ve seen some other people do it and I would like to make my own version.  I’m sure a lot of my choices will overlap with others but too bad.

For each post, I will put the MV (some might be “19 rated” ) and talk a little about the group.  Some might be group repeaters ( I can’t help it if a group likes dark concepts *cough* VIXX *cough*) but to help me and YOU get in the Halloween Spirit ….I’m not quite sure where that sentence was going. Oh well.

First up is………drum roll please……really you should have figured it out from the title of this post…..THRILLER!! THRILLER NIGH-

Nope.  Before you scratch your pea size heads as to why I would put a MJ song on a KPOP HALLOWEEN list…remember KPOP likes to use a lot of English….because….I don’t know why.  I think I saw it’s to make them more internationally appealing?

This is BTOB’s Thriller song.  It most def has that Halloween feeling.  Graveyards, skulls, men in fringe shirts, chained to the wall with bleach blonde hair….yep. All the things to make a great KPOP MV.

BTOB is a group of 7 that is with CUBE.  I think they debuted in 2013.  They’ve never really gotten too popular although I don’t know why.  The vocal line is super impressive and so is the rap line.  Sungjae, the “baby” has gotten a lot of attention after his School 2013 role as well a ton of endorsements.  They recently released their new comeback MV “Way Back Home” which is an intense 8 min drama.  If you feel like crying go watch it.  As for the song itself…I need to hear it apart from the MV which kind of delegates it to a backing song role.

Anyway back to Thriller.  I hope you enjoy and enjoy the darker side that is BTOB Thriller!!!

Ilhoon 🙂

As previously mentioned, I finally will be able to “talk” about Busan!  It’s been a really really weird week.  Usually to me the school week goes by pretty fast until Friday hits.  However this week was a combination of boredom and stress.  Why you may ask-All of my classes were cancelled on Wednesday leaving me with nothing to do. From 9-440.

BUT at the same time I was informed that I would have to plan three lesson plans for the same lesson because 1. we are having a parents visit next week which means special condensed lesson plan 2. an added on longer version of said condesned lesson plan with co teacher 1 3. and a completely reworked lesson plan with co teacher 2.

So yes while I was half bored to tears half the time, I was also immesley stressed trying to figure out how to create three different lesson plans for the same lesson.

CRAZY.

Now that that mess is taken care of (wrap it up and send it away to the most outer regions of space) we shall dive right into happier Busan times.

TRAIN INFO (Pyeongtaek to Busan)

I think I mentioned in the previous post that I left for Busan on a Friday evening and wound up arrive at around 9pm.  It was a surprisingly comfortable trip despite the fact I was next to a stranger the better part of 4 hours.

In case anyone cares about the actual travel portion-I took the Saemauel ITX train to Busan from Pyeongtaek AK Plaza for 66,000 round trip.  The train itself was clean and relatively comfy.  You are assigned a seat unlike American-Amtrak-where the seats are a free for all, so yes you do need to reserve a seat online or at the ticket counter a head of time.  I have been informed that those tickets tend to sell out fast so it’s recommended you go a head and buy them as soon as you can.

Also I am not super chunky but I’m also not the Korean standard of 100lbs for women so the seats were not as wide as those cushy Amtrak seats.  I wasn’t uncomfortable and I had no issue but I can forsee this as an issue if you are in fact on the larger size-also the middle arm rest is not moveable so you are stuck in the space you are given with no real wiggle room.

Now the train was on time and the seats were pretty comfy.  The recline was really nice, and I def. was able to sleep both ways.  I believe they have a snack car but I brought my own water and food to make it and not have to wander around the train too much.

I do wish I could have gotten a window seat because the scenary was very interesting but I had to look over my seat mate (awkward ) or across the aisle (even way way more awkward) to see outside.  We passed by a of mountains, really cute towns, some lakes (I think) but when we finally got close to Busan there was so much neon I thought I had arrived in Macau instead.

My train station AK plaza is big with a ton of shops and a movie theater.  However compared to the Busan train station it is miniscule.  Busan looks like an airport.  It has so much in it and the sheer size of it is overwhelming.

I met my friend Whitney and then we went back to her place.  We rode the subway (t money card!) and it took like a half an hour or so.  She lives right down the street from her subway stop.  I’m supremely jealous.  That was one thing I had requested in my  application-there is unending happiness when you can literally take the subway anywhere.

Korean Apartments And Whitney’s Shrine to KPOP

Her apartment is much more modern than mine with the really cool keycode lock. I have two sets of keys.  Much less cool.  Inside though it is much smaller.  It’s the size of a very small studio with a bathroom (more on that later) and a narrow kitchen.  But man has she decorated it-it’s like a shrine to Kpop.  I have never seen a collection so extensive before.  Posters everywhere, 5 different lightsticks, a ton of music, random things, pillows, the list is endless. I knew Whitney was crazy about Kpop but damn! I was half wigged out by the sheer amount and half really jealous.

Because I had spent the day at school and then traveled for 4 hours on a train I was supremely gross. So I went to take a shower-NEWSFLASH! Showers and bathrooms in Korea are NOT like home.

I am lucky enough to have a decent size bathroom-a western toliet, a sink, and a tub with a shower head-I did have to add the shower pole and curtain myself which is not a big deal.

I was quick to realize though HOW lucky I actually am.  In Korea the toliet, sink, and shower head are all in one square room.  That’s right no seperate space for the shower.  If you google “Korean bathroom” you will understand what I am failing at explaining to you. People buy flip flops for the bathroom because after you shower everything is pretty much soaked so you’re feet will get wet if you want to go to the bathrrom.

It was an experience unlike any other for me.  It was uncomfrotable and awkward.  I guess if you’re the only person in the apartment than it’s not a big deal but it would be something I would have to become accutomed to like Whitney.

I was so exhausted I quickly passed out on Whitneys “GOT7 Jackson” pillow which was surprisingly comfortable.

Busan Shopping: Record Stores that will make you miss the days before iTunes

The next morning we slept in, took our time getting ready and then headed out for a fun day shopping in Busan before the BTOB concert.

It was windy that day which caused us to wear extra layers of clothes but it wasn’t completely unpleasent.  We took the subway to some underground shopping mall (I will update with the name when I find out) but we were so hungry (I had not had a proper meal since lunch the day before at school) we went to lunch first.  I hadn’t had western food in such a long time that we wound up going for Italian at a restaraunt nearby (once again when I find the names of these places I will update).  We got the creamy seafood pasta and french fries which were amazing.  I don’t know if it was the combo of being so hungry and not having western food in over a month, or the fact it was actually really good but we eat the entire plate-think like a giant skillet.  It was so good. It has piece of squid, scallops (I think?), pasta, mussels was just amazing.

Afterwards we went to the record store she frequents.  When I think of record store I think of second hand vinyl record dusty store that smells faintly of must. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! Record Store in Korea is like a mecca for music lovers.  Not only do they have the biggest selection of Kpop music (seriously its amazing) but they have an extensive selection of western music-from both america and Europe-some of the CD’s they had were ones that I had wanted when I went through my British Pop Group phase (Girls Aloud /Westlife).  It was really something else to behold.

Also not only did they have CDs, DVDs, but CASSETTE TAPES. That’s right.  Those things after 8tracks and before CD’s.  I was so in shock that I must have gushed over them for a solid mintue.

I didn’t want to bore Whitney (who said she could never be bored in Syannara Records) so I tried to limit myself.  There was just so much to see and look through.  I wound up looking through the Kpop section.  Here’s a little bit of information about Kpop Albums.  They aren’t just in little plastic CD cases with the album cover and a list of the songs on the back.  These things are huge with a generous size photo book, photocards and some come with posters.

In America most people have switched over to buying music on iTunes. I admit most of the time I will buy my music online because it’s easier.  There are rare times when I will get the physical copy-and usually I have to order amazon because American stores just no longer carry the wide seletcion of music.

The art of going to the store, wandering and picking up your copy has not been lost in Korea and it’s really enjoyable.  The thrill of buying the album!

I picked up Vixx’s latest album and then we headed out to go to a cafe.

Sidenote: there was a group of school girls handing around the EXO section-Whitney guessed they were having an “EXO” buying party.  I still stand by the fact that EXO fans just so off putting I don’t even bother with the band.

BTS Cafe and Underground Mall

We headed over to “Alice Table” for drinks.  As I mentioned Whitney is a HUGE BTS fan. She explained to me that most of her paycheck goes towards BTS merch (as I’ve said before that means merchandise to those of us who are less wordly about buying ….stuff).

The cafe is cute.  With the menu cover being a picture of the “Alice in Wonderland” story and the cafe taking it’s name from said story, one would think the inside would be somehow related the child’s tale.

Apparently though it has changed a lot since BTS has become a better known band. There are so many pictures of the band with their songs on a loop played in the background.  It’s very cute to see how proud the dad is of his son (I think it’s Park Ji Min but I’m not sure…as you can see I don’t really know them at all). The owner is so nice and very friendly.  He recognized my friend right away.  He goes around from table to table to check on his patrons.

After having a really good Vanilla Latte (my first drink with “latte art”) we went shopping.  We went back underground and I dropped about 160$ on makeup and face products.  We didn’t do too much because we had to get to the concert but it was probably for the best.  I can be cheap (frugal) but most of the time…I’m not.  I just can’t help it.

We went back to her place, dropped off my bags and then headed to the concert.

BTOB Concert no longer was playing on my computer screen!

Now I had brought my umbrella with me, checking the weather for Busan prior.  And that Saturday, while it was mostly sunny, it was obvious it was going to pour.  But silly me, I left my umbrella at Whitney’s place thinking “I’ll be okay.”

We arrive at the venue and the first thing I see upon exiting the subway station was dark clouds.  I said to Whitney “It’s going to pour.” Oh if I only knew.

The venue was the KBS hall and it was a short walk. Whitney got her new “slogan towel” (I’m still trying to figure out what that means) and I bought a bag with the name of the concert on it.  We ran into a friend of her who was also there with her friend. Thank god we did because Whitney had gotten standing and I had not so we were going to be seperated from each other.  I wound up having seats exactly next to her friend.  It was bizarre-of all the places.

Whitney wound up going in first but we texted the entire time.  She wound up being pretty close to the front of the stage and I was on the second floor. Due to “fortunate circumstances” Whitney’s friends and I wound up being much closer to the stage on the first floor.

The concert was so good!  It was crazy!  Right before I left America for Korea I had really gotten into BTOB.  So seeing them live was so surreal and amazing.   They weren’t on my 13inch laptop screen anymore.

At one point they went into the audience and we got to touch their hands and it was…no words.  They put on a really good show and perform so well live.

When I met Whitney afterwards I asked her if she started crying during the ballad (she had admitted to tearing up during Vixx) .  She said she was crying way before that. Sometimes I get the crying thing but most of the time I don’t-however if that’s how she felt in that moment than more power to her.

She also had managed to get us a bunch of the “Hello Melody Busan” posters.  After saying our goodbyes we headed back to her apartment and then I crashed on the “BTOB” Beep Beep pillow-this was of course after both Whitney and I had come down from our concert highs.

The next morning I did have to leave for the train station to head back home because me train left at 11. I was in and out of sleep for the ride home.

And after a little look around the shopping mall part of the train station I wound up at my apartment with a little daylight to spare.  I was so tired that I didn’t do my laundry.  That’s right I now had two weeks of laundry to do. It cost me 14$ and an hour and a half to do the following day but it was worth it.

I really loved Busan.  It was awesome to be able to see mountains peaking from behind the buildings.  The energy was great and the subway took you just about anywhere.  I admit my jealousy over Whitney’s more desirable location.

Because I have been struggling with the decision to stay another year in Korea or move back home, I wanted to used Seoul and Busan as testing grounds.  Busan was amazing and I hope when I got back I can see more of the city and sights.

However, Seoul was just so amazing and there was always so much to see and do.  I feel like living in a city like that would give me the better experience I feel that I am slightly lacking in my current location.  I plan on heading up to Seoul tomorrow to check out Myeongdong shopping and Yeouido Cherry Blossom festival. Despite having spent the last two weekends travelling like a bird mirgating back and forth, I think that instead of sitting my apartment watching TV and eating alone, exploring Seoul and being a little tired is the clear winner.

Misc.

Random little dribbles that don’t fit anywhere but I find extremely entertaining and hope you do too.

I had tried to get tickets for Big Bang’s comeback-yeah right. As soon as 8pm hit on Monday I clicked on the button and nothing happened.  It was insane and stupid and just made no sense.  I think if it was a year and a half ago I would have been crying like some of Whitney’s co workers.  However because that has cooled off, I wasn’t as upset-I also knew going into the ticket sale that it was going to be like this so it pretty much matched my expectations.

I looked a little around on the sight and saw that my Maroon 5 would be in Korea in September.  My colleague recently has started talking to me about Maroon 5 and her love for them.  I had considered going but I’ve seen Maroon 5 already and who knows what possible other concerts will be around that time.

I told my colleague about it and she was so excited-it had turned out that the tickets went on sale that night-she got standing and now she is so thankful and happy she will be seeing them in September.

Wow this post turned out to be so much longer than I expected but Busan was so packed and I really didn’t want to split it like Seoul.

Until next week.
